Grand Traverse Regional Community Foundation

The Cleo M. Purdy Endowment is a Community Foundation Endowment that is designated to support early childhood experiences and opportunities in Central Lake.

Upon receiving the gift from Cleo Purdy's charitable trust, the Community Foundation engaged expertise and community input to develop CLEO – Central Lake Early Experiences and Opportunities, a framework and model within which the Community Foundation could make decisions about grantmaking and stewardship of the Endowment.

The Community Foundation provides leadership and resources for experiences and opportunties that align with CLEO.

CLEO is also an ongoing and enduring community commitment to Central Lake’s young children and their families. CLEO is a community-based, comprehensive model for early experiences and opportunities and is supported by many community partners providing experiences, opportunities, and resources for the benefit of young children and families in Central Lake.

The Community Foundation for Antrim, Benzie, Grand Traverse, Kalkaska and Leelanau Counties works to match donor passion with purpose, creating endowments to benefit the areas that matter most to donors, and awarding grants to organizations that are impacting lives and enriching our communities.

Its work related to its Cleo M. Purdy Endowment is one example of how the Community Foundation works to steward donor intent to leverage community impact.
